A mega event for Asian pop music industry with extravaganza by recording artistes and contestants

The Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival (HKAMF), which is organised by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (Hong Kong Group) Limited [“IFPI (Hong Kong Group)”], is returning for the ninth consecutive edition. The IFPI (Hong Kong Group) has received the staunch support from Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the lead sponsor of the HKAMF again, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and for the first time, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), both as supporting organisations. Details of the HKAMF 2019 were announced at a press launch today.
The HKAMF 2019’s show will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on 22nd March 2019.
This year’s theme is “Music in one Asia Plus”, with focus on “Music Harmony” in the region. Aside from the 8 regions namely the Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, which have been participating in previous editions of the HKAMF, Vietnam is now added as a core member of the HKAMF by sending a budding star to compete for the first time with the other contestants from the participating regions for the three coveted titles, namely the HKAMF 2019 Asian Supernova Award, the HKAMF 2019 Best Vocal Performance Award and the HKAMF 2019 Best Stage Performance Award, on the same stage. These three awards will be judged by a professional panel, while audiences on site and before television, like the years before, can cast their votes via mobile phones to select the winner for the HKAMF 2019 Top Viewers’ Choice.
Mr. Gary Chan, Chairman of HKAMF2019 and Chairman of IFPI (Hong Kong Group) Limited expressed that The HKAMF has emerged from a humble beginning with the aim to seek the star of tomorrow to an annual mega event nowadays that carries the mission in bringing the Asian regions closer for music sharing and partnership. Through co-developing the music market for Asian Repertoire, the HKAMF facilities the music industries in different Asian regions to benefit from each other under the “Belt and Road” Initiative. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Bay Area) development also provides opportunity for the HKAMF to strengthen its leading role in promoting Music in one Asia Plus.
Ms Fiona Lam, Assistant Head of CreateHK also attended the press launch today to show the Government’s support for the Hong Kong music sector. While expressing CreateHK’s gratitude to the IFPI (Hong Kong Group) for organising the HKAMF again, she also wished the local contestant for the Asian Supernova Award, Nowhere Boys, a good show at the HKAMF 2019.

The HKAMF 2019 is a stardust event, with the following 4 superstars in music who will put on a special showcase in the evening of 22nd March:
– Dean TING from the Mainland
– GACKT from Japan
– NCT 127 from Korean, and
– Hins CHEUNG from the hosting city, Hong Kong
Miss J. Arie, the HKAMF 2014 Supernova winner from Hong Kong, will also serve as HKAMF Music Ambassador this year by leading a performance with budding artistes, not just from Hong Kong but also from Macau, in that evening. The first participation of Macau artistes in the HKAMF signifies further regional co-operations in the Bay Area.
As for the budding recording artistes who will compete for the Asian Supernova Award in the HKAMF 2019, they are:
– Liu Limin from the Mainland,
– Nowhere Boys from Hong Kong,
– #GBOYSWAG from Taiwan,
– Shiena Nishizawa from Japan,
– Stella Jang from Korea,
– Jermaine Leong from Singapore,
– Maria Effendi from Malaysia,
– The Rube from Thailand, and
– ORANGE from Vietnam.
Music celebrities from the participating regions have also been invited to adjudicate at the Asian Supernova Award. They are Mr. Shen Lihui from the Mainland, Mr. Chen Shao Qi from Hong Kong, Ms. Ting Hsiao Wen from Taiwan, Mr. starRo from Japan, Mr. SohnPD from Korea, Mr. Colin Goh from Singapore, Mr. Ciang Teng from Malaysia, Mr. KRIS P from Thailand and Mr. Huy Tuan from Vietnam.
In addition to the show on 22nd March, the HKAMF 2019 will stage a business forum on 21st March, which will be dedicated to exploring the potentials of new strategic partnership under the title of “Greater Bay Area — New Business Opportunities for Cantopop. The speakers who have agreed to share their insights with the participants are leading figures of major corporations who possess profound market knowledge and experience in conducting music business, including live entertainment media and music platform services, in the Mainland. The forum will be held from 11:00a.m. to 12:45p.m. at the Moonlight Theatre of the FILMART inside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It is open to all HKAMF participants and the trade from worldwide. The HKAMF 2019 receives staunch support from music industry associations from participating regions in Asia, namely China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association (“CADPA”), Recording Industry Foundation in Taiwan, IFPI Taiwan (“RIT”), Recording Industry Association of Japan (“RIAJ”), Recording Industry Association of Korea (“RIAK”), Recording Industry Association (Singapore) (“RIAS”), Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (“RIM”) and Thai Entertainment Content Trade Association (“TECA”).
HKAMF is also meant for global TV audiences, with live broadcast to be commenced at 8:00 p.m. sharp. The Organiser of the HKAMF 2019 is pleased to receive wide support from both traditional media and new media again in the broadcasting, including the Radio Television Hong Kong, which will continue to be the Host Broadcaster, RTHKTV 31 and 32, Radio 2, iCABLE as well as OpenSky.tv which will live broadcast the event, and ATV, ViuTV, Phoenix TV HK, Yahoo HK which will carry the TV Programme in delay cast. Other local media that are supporting the HKAMF2019 include Commercial Radio, MetroInfo, and the music magazine Headlines Best Buy, etc.
For other territories, the HKAMF 2019’s TV programme will be carried by Fairchild Television from Canada, Golden TV from Taiwan, Cube TV from Korea, StarHub and Channel V from Singapore, TVBA from Australia, TVBUSA from the United States, as well as New Zealand’s World TV and TVB Anywhere. The public may also attend the show as audience on 22nd March 2019. Free tickets are open for online registration at the HKAMF’s official website at www.hkamf.org from 00:00:00 on 25th February 2019 to 23:59:59 on 27th February 2019 (Hong Kong time). Each person can only register once. The organiser will then conduct a computer random draw of 1,650 winners under the witness of auditors from Patrick Wong C.P.A. Limited. The result will be published on www.hkamf.org on 6th March 2019. Winners may collect 2 tickets each by coming to the office of IFPI (Hong Kong Group) on 16th or 17th March 2019 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Trade Promotion Competition License Number: 51710).
